Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge is the first rural or garden cemetery in the United States. It is the burial site of many prominent Boston Brahmins, a National Historic Landmark, and a horticultural gem to boot. Join other Newton at Home members and volunteers for a leisurely stroll through Cemetery grounds. We’ll take a self-guided tour of notable figures buried there, as well as enjoy the beautiful plants, flowers, trees, and birds.
Remember to wear comfortable walking shoes and layers. Bring your hat, sunscreen, and water bottle.
We will meet promptly at 2:00 p.m. in front of the Visitor’s Center located just inside the main entrance at 580 Mt Auburn St, Cambridge, MA 02138. Closest parking option is in the circle that wraps around the Asa Grey garden, though visitors may park on any road without a green line. Public restrooms are inside the Visitor’s Center.
To register please call the office at 617-795-2560. All members and volunteers are welcome to attend. Member rides requests accepted until May 15.
