Do you like books?
All Newton at Home members are invited to come to the Book Swap on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024, from 2:30 – 4 p.m., hosted by the Ready Readers book group at Scandinavian Living Center. If you wish, bring books you are ready to pass along, and take home new titles! Think holiday giving!
Members of both NaH book groups, Ready Readers and Book Club #1, will be present, and more information about both groups will be available. You may decide to join one of the groups! Light refreshments will be served.
To register for this event/request a ride, please call the office at 617-795-2560 or email info@newtonathome.org.
About Ready Readers
The Ready Readers book group meets monthly on Zoom (2nd Tuesday of the month, 3 – 4:30 p.m.), and reads a variety of both fiction and non-fiction, chosen by the members from among books “nominated” by the members. Usually the person who nominated the book will lead the discussion. Members who cannot do Zoom may visit another member’s home to participate in the meeting. Currently the group has 11 members, both men and women. New members are welcome!
The group was formed in 2013. Current co-leaders are Sallie Craig Huber and Charmian Proskauer.
About Book Club #1
Book Club #1 meets once a month usually via Zoom (3rd Thursday of the month, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.). Once or twice a year, we meet in person at a member’s home. We typically alternate between fiction and non-fiction. We had our 140thbook discussion in November. We select books every six month from books “nominated” by our members. Usually, the person who nominated the book will lead the discussion. Book Club #1 first met in 2012 and has always had both men and women members. We’ve added many new members over the years, but several of our current members were among the founding members of the group. New members are very welcome!
