CELEBRATING EARTH DAY: Protecting Massachusetts Rivers 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. Zoom

Protecting Massachusetts Rivers: How a small group is making a big difference.

Julia Blatt. Executive Director, Massachusetts Rivers Alliance

Did you know our small state has over 10,000 miles of rivers?  How many of them can you name?  Julia Blatt has been working to protect and restore rivers in Massachusetts for over 30 years, and has kayaked and canoed all over Massachusetts.  As head of the Massachusetts Rivers Alliance, she organizes river advocates across the state to improve the quality of our rivers, protect their flow and wildlife habitat, and improve their climate resiliency.  She will talk about this work, share stories about the challenges of protecting a resource that - unlike land - you can't just buy, and the surprisingly varied issues facing rivers in our small state.
