Membership Services

Newton at Home provides members with the following:

• A single telephone number 617-795-2560 or e-mail: info@newtonathome.org
• Resources to link members with the practical services that they need
• Screened and trained volunteers who provide many of Newton at Home's member services
• Referrals to screened vendors for complex projects (roofing; construction; gutters; landscaping)
• Referrals to vendors who may offer discounts to NAH members
• Advocacy and resources to help members navigate the health care system   

 Housekeeping and Home Repair:

• Simple carpentry and painting
• Assistance with house cleaning, trash removal, light dishes, groceries
• Home maintenance/light repairs, sweeping, shoveling sidewalks
• Changing light bulbs, batteries/hearing aides, testing smoke detectors 
• Picking up mail while a member is away, checking alarms, delivering light groceries.

 Health and Fitness:        

• Expert-led seminars on nutrition, exercise, fall prevention
• Exercise and fitness classes, yoga, balance and walking groups
• Advocacy to help navigate complex health care visits
• Daily telephone check-ins; medical escorts;
• Home help and companionship
• Referrals to licensed and
• Member-recommended providers of home health services.

Transportation:  

• Individual and group rides to grocery stores, doctors' offices, Logan/other airports
• Rides to a friend's home, cultural events, the Newton Free Library, other local destinations.

Convenience Services:

• Pet, plant and house checks while you're away 
• Help with paying bills; preparing and mailing packages
• Pet feeding; dog walking; prescription/groceries pick-up
• Waiting for delivery/service person when member isn't at home
• Stocking refrigerator with staples before member returns.

Professional Services:

• Recommendations for local specialists such as licensed carpenters, plumbers, architects and contractors who specialize in home adaptation
• Recommendations for screened home health care specialists
• Travel agents.
  

• In-home computer training and problem solving regarding computers [MAC and PC], e-mail, DVDs, other electronic devices.  

Gardening Advice and Help: 

• Watering and caring for plants during brief absences
• Gardening advice and assistance.
