Newton at Home depends on the active involvement of Newton residents who are committed to the success of Newton at Home. More than 70 volunteers work on a wide variety of planning and program development. Please tell us if you or one of your children or grandchildren would like to volunteer with us.
Opportunities are available to provide direct services and transportation for our members as well as opportunities to support our growing organization.

Immediate needs for direct services volunteers include:
- Drivers: to provide transportation to doctors' appointments, Logan and other Airports, to grocery and other stores, religious services, in Newton, Boston, and adjacent suburbs; to the Library
- Technology Help and Training: provide assistance with PCs more effectively, install and learn popular applications, be more effective in using the internet, interface the PC to the TV set up smartphone applications, etc.
- Office/Administration: handle member, volunteer, and provider phone calls and email requests; keep files up to date; do outreach to attract new vendors and volunteers, handle event registrations and membership dues administration, provide support for the executive director
- Project Consulting: assist members in planning and organizing projects where vendors will be needed such as home adaptation, roof repair, major landscaping. Provide assistance in contacting vendors, evaluating proposals and alternatives, developing contracts, inspecting work, etc.
Opportunities to work with Newton at Home's committees include:

Community Outreach Supporting Member Recruitment: Coordinating and making presentations across Newton to organizations whose members are potential NAH members and volunteers; arranging informational “coffees” to introduce people to NAH; leading other member recruitment activities

Events and Programming: planning and organizing citywide and neighborhood events; planning for and creating clubs for NAH members

Writers: write and edit marketing materials, articles, newsletters, grants and other communications.

Fundraising: helping develop a fundraising plan; identifying individual, corporate, foundation, and government donors; researching foundation support; grant writing; soliciting donations
- Preferred Vendor Identification/Screening: gathering information on community resources / service providers; creating a preferred vendor list; negotiating discounts with vendors

Marketing and Communications: promoting NAH to potential members and volunteers; promoting NAH-sponsored events; writing, graphic design, and media relations; gathering information about prospective members via surveys; creating and executing a public relations campaign

Newsletter: editing, researching, writing articles; graphic design; proofreading for NAH’s newsletter

Finance, Insurance, and Business Planning: defining and developing NAH’s accounting processes, budgets, and financial records; determining NAH’s insurance needs; developing intermediate- and long-term strategy; preparing business plan
